OVF Alliance Ladies bounce back after falling to Vancouver Victory in Oregon Open Cup

Albany, Oregon: The OVF Alliance Women are always an exciting bunch to watch, and wasted no time Sunday evening bouncing back from their midweek loss to the Vancouver Victory to easily defeat Cultures United FC 5-1 in the first round of the 2022 Hummel Cup.

Abby Smith got the women on the board nearly immediately, scoring in the first minute of the game with a thunderbolt of a strike from outside the box. OVF was relentless going forward, scoring their second goal of the game when Mya Fry got on the end of a corner to send the ball looping over the opposition keeper in the 29th minute. CUFC managed to respond with a goal of their own in the first half, but OVF was unfazed and scored their third goal minutes later, thanks again to Mya Fry, to reclaim their 2-goal advantage going into halftime.

OVF’s relentless attacking abilities continued in the second half, as Grace Negelspach notched a brace of her own, scoring in the 50th and 68th minutes of the match. The women’s defense held strong, and walked away with an impressive win to move on to the second round of the tournament, in which they will take on Twin City Union. The OVF Alliance Women will resume their Cascadia Premier League campaign on the road in Puyallup, Washington on Saturday, June 25th as they take on Steel United.
